11 Bit Studios Unveils Frostpunk 2 Roadmap with Estimated Launch Dates

In a significant development for fans of the Frostpunk series, 11 Bit Studios has taken the wraps off the first Frostpunk 2 roadmap. This roadmap provides estimated dates for both the console launch of Frostpunk 2 and the highly anticipated big DLC updates. While specific release dates for these events remain undisclosed, the studio has assured players of some substantial free updates interspersed between the major releases.

Studio's Commitment to Free Content Updates

In a Steam updates blog post, the studio expressed its dedication to adding free content updates. These updates, inspired by player feedback, are set to have a significant impact on the overall gaming experience. As stated, "On top of DLCs, we’re committed to adding free content updates, which in many ways were inspired by your feedback, that will significantly impact your overall experience with the game."

Patch 1.2 and Its Timing

The first up on the roadmap is Frostpunk 2 patch 1.2. 11 Bit expects this patch to launch sometime before the end of 2024. With only a few weeks left in the year, players can anticipate its arrival soon. After patch 1.2, the first free update is scheduled to arrive in early 2025. This free update will enhance the gaming experience further, setting the stage for the console release later in the year.

Major DLC Packs in 2025

2025 is a busy year for 11 Bit Studios as they plan to release two major DLC packs. Currently, these packs only have codenames - Spectrum first, then Aurora. The studio has not revealed what these packs hold in store for players. However, based on the success of the original Frostpunk's DLC, players can look forward to new regions, new scenarios, and possibly even a full expansion.

Third DLC Pack in 2026

The final destination on the Frostpunk 2 roadmap is in 2026 with the launch of a third DLC pack. This pack, however, does not even have a codename yet.
