An upcoming graduate from Indiana University Kokomo, Z Fanning, is making waves in the realm of video game design. As he nears graduation in May, Fanning is putting the final touches on his senior thesis project—a video game crafted using the skills acquired during his studies in New Media, Art, and Technology (NMAT). This program has provided him with a broad range of courses that cater to various aspects of digital artistry, including sound design, illustration, graphic design, and video editing. These diverse classes have enabled Fanning to develop a deep understanding of how different elements come together to create immersive gaming environments. His passion for storytelling through interactive media stems from childhood experiences playing the Sly Cooper series, which sparked an interest in creating meaningful narratives within games. Despite challenges along the way, Fanning remains dedicated to giving back to the gaming community and plans to showcase his work at the Thesis Exhibition.

Upon returning, he embraced college life fully, engaging actively with professors and dedicating himself entirely to his studies. After seven years pursuing his degree, Fanning looks forward to graduating and embarking on new professional adventures. Currently employed at a graphic design firm, he envisions continuing his education by pursuing a master’s degree. Ultimately, Fanning aims to return to IU Kokomo as a faculty member, sharing his knowledge and passion for tech-based arts with future generations of students.
