In a significant move to propel the local gaming industry forward, Screen Queensland has announced the latest recipients of its digital games funding. The Australian video game industry has experienced a remarkable surge, with sales reaching a staggering AUD $4.21 billion this year. This impressive growth has fueled a movement to nurture new, creative projects in Queensland and beyond. The state has witnessed a remarkable 68.5% increase in games-related employment within Screen Queensland-supported studios from 2023 to 2024, adding approximately 263 jobs to the local ecosystem.Diversifying the Gaming Landscape
The latest round of Screen Queensland funding is set to create an additional 40 positions, further bolstering the state's gaming industry. Nine independent studios have been selected to receive this support, positioning them for long-term growth and success. The organization's Games Grants funding awards up to AUD $200,000 per project, with a lifetime cap of AUD $300,000, ensuring a sustainable and diverse gaming landscape.Driving Innovation and Opportunity
