Discovering Wednesday's Strands: Hints, Spangram, and Answers
Unlock the Secrets of Strands with Our Daily Guide
How To Play Strands
The New York Times' Strands puzzle is a delightful twist on the classic word search. It's accessible on the NYT website and the NYT Games app, alongside popular games like Wordle and Connections. Every day, a new six by eight grid of letters awaits. The goal is to find a group of words with a common theme. A clue helps you determine what that theme is, and when you find a theme word, it lights up in blue. You also need to find the special spangram, which tells you what the words have in common. The spangram links at least two sides of the board and can be a proper name. All letters are used once in either the theme words or the spangram. You can connect letters vertically, horizontally, and diagonally, and even change directions mid-word. On a touchscreen, double-tap the last letter to submit your guess. If you find three valid words of at least four letters that aren't part of the theme, the Hint button unlocks. Clicking it highlights the letters of one of the theme words. Be prepared for surprises as the difficulty varies from day to day.For example, sometimes you'll need to fill in missing words in a phrase. On other days, the game might revolve around synonyms or homophones. It keeps you on your toes and adds an extra layer of fun to the puzzle.
